Southwest Conference Site for WiG 2000-2002

Barbara Kosta (conference@womeningerman.org), WiG Conference organizer for 2000-2002, sends the following description of the Wiggie conference site: Rio Rico Resort, located in the Sonoran desert in southern Arizona, overlooks the lush green Santa Cruz River Valley. Besides offering comfortable conference facilities and beautiful mountain vistas, the resort has a pool, whirlpool, sauna, as well as offers horseback riding, tennis and golf. The surrounding countryside is dotted with historical sites and wildlife preserves, an artist's village and is close to Mexico. The resort is 45 minutes south of Tucson.

Location and Transportation to Rio Rico

Conference attendees should make travel arrangements to Tucson International Airport. Shuttle service will be provided between Tucson and Rio Rico Resort on Thursday, October 17 and Sunday, October 20. In the past, many Wiggies have opted to rent cars. We encourage you to do so again since this gives you independence and reduces our transportation costs. If possible, please organize a carpool to the resort. Rio Rico Resort is located 45 minutes south of Tucson. Exit Tucson International Airport (Tucson Blvd.) and turn left onto Valencia Rd.which intersects with Highway 19. Take Highway 19 south toward Nogales and then exit 17 to the Rio Rico Resort. The 2001 conference program and registration and transportation forms are in the Summer 2001 WiG Newsletter and are posted on this site.
